Maddie White

LMSW, RYT-200, Supervised by Jill Hokanson, LCSW-S

Maddie is a Licensed Master Social Worker, supervised by Jill Hokanson LCSW-S. She earned her bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Sciences from Auburn University and her Master’s in Social Work from Samford University in Birmingham, AL.

Maddie is passionate about helping others heal holistically. She is focused on walking alongside individuals in their journey of healing, whatever that may look like. Her approach is empathetic, warm, genuine, and focused as a partnership between client and clinician. She provides space for others to show up how they are. Maddie is committed to helping individuals set their own goals and find ways to accomplish them, while welcoming in the natural process of life along the way.

Maddie believes that we are all products of our environments, early attachment experiences, and the systems we operate in. She works from the belief that change occurs through gaining insight into unconscious patterns and forming new conscious beliefs.

She enjoys working with individuals in all walks of life. She has had experience with those dealing with substance abuse, addiction, identity, hopelessness, anxiety, depression, relational and family conflict, trauma, instability in housing and employment, and those living in chronic crisis conditions.

Maddie is drawn to a client-centered, emotionally focused approach with her clients. She operates in various modalities such as DBT, CBT, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Narrative, Existential, and Psychodynamic therapies to gain insight. From there, she uses mindfulness techniques to ground clients and help them feel at home in their own skin. These approaches help empower individuals to incorporate practices into their daily lives.

Maddie brings a unique eye to one-on-one work with individuals because of her experiences in different settings such as nonprofits, ministries, the addiction and recovery space, and intensive mental health treatment. For Maddie, it is an honor to partner with people on their journey of health and healing.

In her free time, you can find her walking, enjoying nature, cooking a meal, hosting a dinner party, spending time with friends and family, and reading Mary Oliver poems.

“Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —over and over announcing your place in the family of things.” - Mary Oliver
