Jonathan May

Founder and LPC

Jonathan is the founder of Beacon Counseling. He graduated from Texas A&M where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and served four years in the Corps of Cadets. He attended Dallas Theological Seminary where he earned a Masters in Counseling and a Masters in Biblical Studies. Jonathan cultivated his love for working with others through six summers at Laity Lodge Youth camp. LLYC was instrumental in pushing Jonathan to the field counseling because of its emphasis on the development of meaningful relationships and unconditional love.

Jonathan’s counseling experience has been shaped by his time in private practice, addiction recovery and large group settings. As clinical director at the GastonHouse, a transitional facility for young men coming out of treatment for drug and alcohol addiction, he was able to work with clients and families in a variety of therapeutic settings in order to bring about change and healing from the disease of addiction. Jonathan has also been intimately involved in the development a pre-married curriculum that now serves over 500 couples per year in the Dallas area.

Personally, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his wife Mica and their three children. The family loves traveling and being outside, but can be found most evenings at home cooking and laughing.

Jonathan is currently accepting new clients.
