Alissa Cooper
LPC-S, Supervised by Gena St. David, LPC-S
Alissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor. recently graduating from Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Radio-Television-Film from The University of Texas at Austin. Before beginning her journey toward becoming a therapist, she spent over 20 years working with people in nonprofit, ministry, and mentorship settings. After years of recommending therapy to others, she felt a deep desire to step into the work herself — to be the one sitting across from clients, offering a steady presence and creating space for growth, healing, and restoration.
Alissa enjoys working with people in every age and stage of life. Her clinical interests include relationship issues, major life transitions, parenthood struggles, disordered eating, anxiety, depression, and overall personal wellness. She is especially drawn to working with young adults, couples, and individuals who feel stuck and long for deeper connection, wholeness, or alignment in their lives.
Alissa believes each person deserves a unique therapeutic experience tailored to them. While her approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she draws from a variety of modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, Bowen Family Systems, and Psychodynamic theory. She views the counseling relationship as central to the healing process and believes that when clients feel heard and understood, real change and empowerment becomes possible. She approaches therapy as a collaborative partnership—one that values curiosity, honesty, and care for the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.
Outside of counseling, she loves spending time with her husband, Carl, and their two kids. Some of her favorite things include being outdoors, reading a good book, sharing meals with friends, catching live music, and watching movies with the people she loves.
