Emily Griesbeck is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern based in Austin, Texas, under the supervision of Jeremy Ezell, LPC-S. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary in Saint Louis, MO. Before attending graduate school, she was a wilderness backpacking guide with Young Life Wilderness Ranch, where she had the opportunity to guide students on week-long backpacking trips through the San Juan Mountains. After college, she lived in Oxford, England.
She began her licensure and training as a psychotherapist at Kids In The Middle, a non-profit agency in Saint Louis that supports families in the midst of separation and divorce. There, Emily led weekly therapy groups for kids ages 5-7 and teen boys struggling to navigate the new reality of their parent’s separation. She encountered an essential need for kids to have a confidential, neutral and fun space to express their feelings about their changing family. In the Saint Louis City schools, she provided individual and group counseling for students who experienced a wide range of trauma and adverse childhood experiences, including parental incarceration or death, homelessness, grief & loss, and neighborhood violence.
As a psychotherapist here in Austin, Emily’s desire is to be a safe, comforting, and helpful guide as you see and live deeper into your life. Emily is a wife and mother, and she loves nurturing her family. Emily loves learning, and she enjoys connecting with friends, being outside, writing, and building her family's library.
